It works by increasing the normal transmission of the neurotransmitter gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) in the brain.
The usual adult dose is one tablet taken just before you go to bed. This should not be repeated, and it is important to allow a full night’s sleep. It is not recommended for use in children or adolescents under 18 years of age. Your doctor will advise you on the correct dosage for your condition.
You should not drink alcohol while taking this medicine. This can increase the side effects of Imovane 7.5 mg tablet. If you think you have taken too much Imovane, call your doctor or the Poisons Information Centre (Australia 0800 76 76 6) or go to the Accident and Emergency Department at your nearest hospital.
Keep this medicine in a safe place where children cannot reach it. Do not leave it in the car or on window sills.
Imovane 7.5 mg tablet works to help you fall asleep reduce the number of times you wake up during the night and restore normal sleep patterns. It is prescribed for the short-term treatment of insomnia (sleeping difficulties). It is usually only used for up to 4 weeks at a time.
