Sleep disturbances can be a really distressing problem. Worries, stress, and disruptions to family life can be factors that cause people problems in getting a good night’s sleep. Dosage
Imovane 7.5 mg tablet is used for short-term treatment (7-14 days) of difficulty in sleeping (insomnia). It may be taken alone or with other medicines that help to sleep. Imovane contains the active ingredient Zopiclone, which is in a class of medicines called cyclopyrrolones and has similarities to benzodiazepine drugs. It works by increasing the normal transmission of the neurotransmitter gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) in the brain.
The usual adult dose is one tablet taken just before you go to bed. This should not be repeated, and it is important to allow a full night’s sleep. It is not recommended for use in children or adolescents under 18 years of age. Your doctor will advise you on the correct dosage for your condition.
You should not drink alcohol while taking this medicine. This can increase the side effects of Imovane 7.5 mg tablet. Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are already taking other medicines, especially any that make you drowsy. This includes medicines bought without a prescription from your pharmacy, supermarket or health food shop. Imovane may interfere with other medicines that cause drowsiness, so you should not drive or operate machinery after taking it.
If you become dizzy or light-headed, or have a serious allergic reaction (see section 6), call your doctor immediately or go to the nearest hospital for urgent treatment. If you think you have taken too much Imovane, call your doctor or the Poisons Information Centre (Australia 0800 76 76 6) or go to the Accident and Emergency Department at your nearest hospital.
Keep this medicine in a safe place where children cannot reach it. Do not leave it in the car or on window sills.
Side Effects
Imovane 7.5 mg tablet works to help you fall asleep reduce the number of times you wake up during the night and restore normal sleep patterns. It is prescribed for the short-term treatment of insomnia (sleeping difficulties). It is usually only used for up to 4 weeks at a time.
